What is a validator node?

How do validators operate? One validation round

To picture it, follow the life cycle of a transaction. A user or application submits a transaction to the network. The transaction waits in a queue until a validator chosen as the proposer bundles transactions into a proposed block. The remaining validators receive the block, check signatures and validity, then broadcast prepare and commit messages in turn. When commit votes reach the quorum threshold, the block is written permanently and synchronized to every node in the network. If the proposer fails, the network automatically changes rounds to select another proposer, ensuring it does not stall.

The whole cycle happens in seconds. It is the continuous, reliable repetition of this validation round that creates the heartbeat of a blockchain.
